進平の笑顔と死の影 — Official Preview Stills, Airtime Schedule & Manga Chapter 4–6 Forecast
Following the blood-drenched cliffhanger of the premiere, Satoko Kirigaya gambles her aristocratic life on an unhinged proposal to the island’s most feared executioner. Here is the verified release schedule, shot-by-shot still analysis from Shogakukan/David Production, and storyline forecasts.
Despite being held inside the dank bamboo holding cell on the rogue penal island, Satoko preserves her aristocratic composure. Her left hand discretely conceals her ornate hairpin—a silent confirmation to manga readers that her initial intention was assassination before turning to psychological seduction.
The visual centerpiece of Episode 2: Shinpei’s expression upon hearing Satoko's sudden marriage vow: 'Will you marry me, Shinpei-san?'. Splashed with the gore of previous island bounty hunters, his bloodlust seamlessly flips into incandescent, child-like devotion.
A sweeping establishing shot exposing the inescapable nature of the penal territory. Dense sea-mist and armed sentries highlight that even if Satoko manages to tame Shinpei’s blade, surviving the corrupt syndicate running the courtesan trafficking trade will require coordinated bloodshed.
Shinpei formally accepts Satoko’s contract in front of approaching rivals. The frame encapsulates the fundamental paradox of Hotaru no Yomeiri: he becomes her invincible shield against the world, while representing the immediate, volatile threat to her fragile physical life.
Simulcast release on Crunchyroll is synchronized with Fuji TV's Noitamina block in Japan every Friday.
Based on David Production’s pacing in Episode 1 (Chapters 1–3), Episode 2 is projected to cover Volume 1: Chapters 4 through 6. Our editorial team will verify and update this mapping immediately following the Friday broadcast.
Satoko de-escalates Shinpei’s murderous impulse by playing the role of a desperate bride-to-be who fell in love at first sight, exploiting his extreme isolation and craving for unconditional warmth.
The corrupt island garrison attacks their encampment. Shinpei reveals why other assassins refer to him as the "Demon of the Island," eliminating an entire five-man ambush in seconds.
The physical strain forces Satoko to conceal her terminal heart spasms. Shinpei gently binds her wounded foot with his own sash, cementing his terrifying, unwavering possessiveness.
As Episode 2 concludes, Shinpei formally marks Satoko with a blood pledge, telling her: "You are my bride now, Satoko. No man or god will take you from me." Meanwhile, across the waters in the imperial capital, Kotaro Ogawa mobilizes search parties to track Satoko’s abduction route, setting the stage for an inevitable collision course between her childhood protector and her homicidal husband.
